The most common excuse for not doing something. This is often the reason that black folks are often seen as lazy, or that black folks are seen as submissive. What’s worse, this excuse is a big reason why black folks are often discriminated against and negatively treated. We often do not have the luxury of introspection because the truth is that we are not aware of everything that happens around us.
That isn’t to say that all black folks aren’t aware of all that happens around them. I’m sure there are people out there that are aware of every single thing that happens to them, but they are in such a small minority that you may not notice. Those that are aware of what is going on around them are those that have a higher degree of self awareness.
