That heritage matters, because much of the engineering thinking, and the programming language at its core, carried over from that ambitious but ultimately shelved corporate attempt to build a global payment network.
The language in question is called Move, and it was designed from the ground up with the safe handling of digital assets in mind, the goal being to make certain classes of costly bug harder to write in the first place. On that foundation, Aptos chases high throughput and low-latency transactions, targeting the kind of consumer and institutional applications that need to feel fast and responsive.
